Zoom Central

Review of our Zoom practices.

What's our goal for using Zoom to participate in our classes? To make it invisible. Zoom is the tool for you and your course leader to communicate and our goal is to make its use as transparent as possible. We've learned too that there may be some new tricks for engaging leaders and students.

Closed Captions (new):

We can now offer closed captions for our Zoom classes and affinity groups. Our tech support staff have learned how to enable closed captions (noted on the Zoom screen as an icon block with "cc" in it and called Live Transcript). If you would like to take advantage of this service, please let your course or group leader know, and the attending tech support can enable the function. If "cc" is enabled, members can choose individually to either "show" the captions or "hide" the captions, whichever they prefer. This is a wonderful new service for any LLAIC members who have difficulty hearing.

Missing a Class Link?

It happens – when new classes start, some people have trouble finding the Zoom links to them.

Here's how the system works. The classes are all set up as recurring Zoom meetings; so if you have last week's link, you can use it for every class. But just in case we send a reminder link every week by 3:00 p.m. on the day the class meets. If you don't see it by then in your inbox, your spam or any other account that you may have, please write to Barbara Mende and she'll try to track it down for you. Enjoy your course!
